"What a refreshing read! What an up-beat
message!
Having been privileged, in my work benchmarking with and assessing for
the Excellence Model and Charter Mark, to see the very best of both the
public and private sectors, I find that the ideas incorporated in this
handy little book are ones which have largely been embraced by the most
successful organisations and their people.
Within the same framework of regulation
and budget restraints these winners show what is possible, and hold up a
challenging, and not always welcome, vision of what is achievable if
attitudes are right. The notion that we need to understand ourselves,
that despite the external imperatives, we are masters of our fate, that
we should take responsibility for managing our circumstances, not being
at the mercy of them, is one for us all in this changing world.
As I go into schools and colleges in my
work with future leaders in education I find that the messages in 'That
Attitude Book' have a relevance and potency which is valid for both
students and staff and I now carry a stock to enable me to leave a copy
wherever I go.
The pocket size means it is just right for train or aircraft journeys,
and much more likely to be seized on by the traveller than the other
management tomes on sale in waiting areas."
