Endorsements from Olympic Sailors
Ben Ainslie
OBE

Ben Ainslie had won medals in two
Olympic Games by the age of only 27. His
sailing began as an eight year old, when his
parents gave him a small Optimist dinghy as a Christmas present.
He quickly grew to racing, competing in his first
national championships at the age of eleven and winning the junior
section.
In 1995 Ben won the Youth World Championships and
this was the beginning of a five-year winning streak in
the Laser class, which saw him win a silver and gold
medal at consecutive Olympics, two World
Championships and four European Championships.
In 2002 he was voted ISAF World Sailor of the Year.
Ben’s goal is to win a third Olympic Medal at
the 2004 Olympic Games, this time in a Finn
dinghy. He has only been competing
in the
Finn Class for a short time but by
winning
the Athens Olympic test event and the
World
Championship this year, he has proved
that
he will be a formidable contender in
Athens.

March 2004, in winning an Olympic Gold Medal
