Steve Cram
MBE

Steve Cram is one of the world's most successful middle distance
athletes of all time. His career spanned three decades since appearing
as a 17 year old at the Commonwealth Games in 1978.
His many achievements included
six Gold medals at Commonwealth,
European and World
Championships. In 1983 he was voted BBC Sports
Personality of the Year. In 1984
he won a 1500m Silver medal at the
Los Angeles Olympics. In 1985 he
broke World Records at 1500m,
2000m and Mile; all within 19
days.
Steve represented British
Athletics on the British Olympic Committee
from 1995 until March 1999. In
May 2000 he was appointed Chairman
of the English Institute of
Sport .
Steve began working in
broadcasting in 1995 as an athletics
commentator for Eurosport,
covering two World Championships, the
European and Olympic Games. In
January 1999 he joined BBC
television and radio, primarily
as a presenter and athletics commentator.
He has presented and commentated
on all major athletic events, both
track and cross country since
1999. Steve has written for The Daily
Telegraph and Guardian during
five Athletic Championships.
Besides broadcasting, Steve is very much at home presenting conferences
and corporate videos, as well as being in great demand as a motivational
speaker. He works extensively with charities and is also President of
the National Boys and Girls Club.
