Roger Black
MBE

Roger Black represented Great
Britain at the highest level of world athletics for 14 years, as an
individual 400m runner and as a member of the 4x400m relay team.
Roger won fifteen major Championship medals
including European, Commonwealth, and World
Championship Gold. In the 1996 Olympics in
Atlanta, he won the Silver Medal in both the
400m individual and 4x400m relay. Roger is
particularly admired for his triumphs over adversity,
successfully overcoming several serious injuries
and setbacks throughout his career.
Since retiring from competitive athletics,
Roger has
transferred his talents to television,
presenting the
2000 Olympics in Sydney, the
2001 World Athletics
Championships in Canada, the 2002
Commonwealth
Games in Manchester and 2002 European
Championships in Vienna, for BBC Sport.
Alongside his TV work, Roger is
a popular motivational speaker and conference host.
