Brendan
Foster CBE

Brendan Foster is managing director of
Nova International in Newcastle, a sports
marketing agency, specialising in the organisation of mass participation
sporting events for television. The most famous is the BUPA sponsored
Great North Run (www.greatrun.org),
the world's biggest half marathon, with 47,000 entrants participating
each year.
In the 1970s Brendan became Britain's most successful
distance runner, with a remarkable range of personal bests from 800m to
the marathon, including a world record at 3000m.
His mid-race surges inspired a generation of athletes
and won him a string of medals including:

1970 Commonwealth 1500m Bronze

1974 European 5000m Gold

1976 Olympic 10,000m Bronze

1978 Commonwealth 10,000m Gold
Brendan was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year 1974.
He
retired from active athletics in 1980 and since then, he has
been a
regular TV commentator.
