Barbara
Dickson OBE

Barbara Dickson OBE is one of Britain's most successful and
enduring musical performers, since making her name in the Scottish folk
scene of the late 1960's.
In 1974 her friend Willy Russell offered her the singing role in the hit
Beatles' musical John Paul George Ringo...& Bert. Hits such as
Answer Me, Another Suitcase In Another Hall and January
February followed throughout the late 1970's and early 1980's. By
1986 Barbara was selling out major venues such as London's Royal Albert
Hall, as she enjoyed her first number one I Know Him So Well;
sung as a duet with Elaine Paige, from the musical Chess.
As the 1990's dawned, Barbara began to rethink her career, moving back
towards her folk roots with 1992's Don't Think Twice It's All Right
and 1994's Parcel Of Rogues. Away from the pop treadmill, she has
moved into television drama with roles in Band of Gold and
Taggart .
In theatre, Barbara has taken starring roles in various musicals and has
won
many accolades, including her own award-winning one-woman show The 7
Ages Of Woman. In 1999 she played the lead role of Viv Nicholson
in the
musical Spend, Spend, Spend, for which she won a Laurence Olivier
award.
Singer, actress, songwriter - Barbara is one of the most
versatile and in-demand
performers working today. With the release of a new album
Full Circle, more
acting roles and a major UK concert tour in 2005, she shows no signs of
slowing down!
