Julia
McKenzie

Julia McKenzie is well-known for her roles throughout a long
career on stage, television and in film.
Julia's West End theatre credits include Guys and
Dolls and Sweeney Todd, for both of which she won the Olivier
Award for Best Actress in a Musical, and Woman in Mind which
earned her the Evening Standard Award for Best Actress. On Broadway she
has appeared in Side By Side By Sondheim, which originated in
London.
Julia's television appearances include Fresh Fields and
the sequel French Fields (for which she played opposite
Anton Rogers and was voted TV Times Favourite Female
Comedy Performance for five consecutive years).
Film credits include Hotel du Lac, Shirley Valentine and
Bright Young Things and numerous radio performances
include The Country Wife, A Room With A View and
Follies.
As a theatre director she staged Stepping Out, Peter Pan, Hey Mister
Producer and Steel Magnolias in London, Putting It
Together in New York, and A Little Night Music in Tokyo. She
has also adapted and directed a series of plays by J M Barrie for the
radio.
In Autumn 2004, Julia appeared on Channel 4's successful
TV show Musicality, as one of a panel of top theatre
professionals; given the task of grooming 5 shortlisted amateur
contestants for the chance of being catapulted into the theatrical
limelight for one night only, to play a coveted role in the classic West
End show Chicago.
