Professor
Patricia Broadfoot

Patricia Broadfoot was Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor,
University of Bristol and a professor of Education.
During a 30-year academic career, Patricia has written or edited some 27
books, written over 100 papers and given presentations in over 40
countries. Her most influential work is Assessment Education and
Society published by Open University Press.
Patricia's career has included positions as head of the Graduate School
of Education, and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Bristol
University. A former president of the British Educational Research
Association and of the British Association for International and
Comparative Education, she has been a Council member of the Economic and
Social Research Council since 2001 and is also involved with committees
of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation, the Higher Education
Academy and the Higher Education Funding Council.
On 1st September 2006 Patricia took up a new post as Vice-Chancellor of
the University of Gloucestershire.
