Dr Colin
Beeson

Colin Beeson is Vice-Principal at the Royal Northern College
of Music. He received his early music education and training in
London and moved to Manchester in 1975 to join the staff of the
newly-formed RNCM as a tutor in Academic Studies. He has been
vice-principal since 1999.
Colin has overall responsibility for the academic
aspects of the College’s operation. He also works closely with the
Trusts and Foundations that offer money to support RNCM students. He
also continues to teach.
Outside the RNCM, Colin has served on various national committees
connected with music, education and the arts. A founder member of the
Board of Music Unlimited (an organisation providing access to music for
disadvantaged groups in society), he was elected to the role of Chair in
1998.
As a musician, Colin trained as an organist, specialising in the music
of the French classical organ school.
