Terence Conran is one of the world's
best-known designers. He founded Habitat in 1964, which brought
good, affordable, modern design to the general public. In 1974 The
House Book was published with huge success. In 1989 he opened the
Design Museum at Butlers Wharf, the first of its kind in the world. In
the 1990's Habitat was sold and a number of Conran Shops were opened
around the world, including New York, Paris and Tokyo.
As a restaurateur, he has changed the face of eating out in London with
his acclaimed restaurants, which include Quaglino's, Sartoria,
and Mezzo. More recently Zinc Bar & Grill have opened in
major cities in the UK.
