Peter
Molyneux OBE

Peter Molyneux co-founded Bullfrog Productions in
1987 to develop an idea he had for a revolutionary new type of strategy
game for home computers. This first game, Populous, went on to
sell over 4 million copies
and is amongst the top ten most successful computer games.
At Bullfrog, Peter also developed other 'god games' Powermonger,
Magic Carpet and Dungeon Keeper, each selling over 400,000 copies.
Another of his titles, Theme Park sold over 3.5 million copies
and became a sensation in Japan.
In
1995, Bullfrog was sold to Californian leisure software giants,
Electronic Arts and Peter remained as Managing Director until 1997, when
he left to set up Lionhead Studios, putting together a team of
like-minded enthusiasts to develop games.
In late March 2001 Lionhead's first game Black & White was
released to widespread critical acclaim, attracting some of the highest
review scores ever achieved by a software program. Worldwide sales are
currently more than 2 million. Autumn 2004 saw the release of Lionhead's
second game Fable for Xbox. Sales now top the 1.5 million mark
and it was the Xbox's fastest selling game at that time. Lionhead is
also working on The Movies, which has excited both the gaming and
consumer press.
Peter is a well-known speaker and has given talks at, among others, the
British Film Institute, the American Museum of the Moving Image, the
Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Dortmund Museum of History and
Culture. He received an OBE in the 2005 New Year Honours List, for
services to the computer games industry.
