Jean Bartlett founded The Bag Lady in October 1999. The idea of an online directory and international trading site for women in business had been an ambition for several years. Having researched and written a thesis on the subject of women entrepreneurs, in addition to having her own experiences of setting up and running several businesses, Jean believed that the Internet could be the platform to facilitate the much needed business information, advice, training and networking business-to-business that women needed.

Jean is currently an executive member of BAWE

(British Association of Women Entrepreneurs) as

Vice-President Wales.
