David Richards CBE

David Richards is chairman and founder of motorsport company Prodrive. A former World Champion rally co-driver (alongside Ari Vatanen in 1981); since starting the Oxfordshire-based business in 1984, he has seen Prodrive become the world's largest independent motorsport company.

During that time Prodrive-run teams have won six World Rally Championship titles, five British Touring Car Championships and in 1994 helped BAR to second behind Ferrari in the F1 constructors' table. 

Prodrive, which employs nearly 900 people and has an annual turnover of £110m, is the only firm currently involved in the highest level of the world's three leading motorsport categories: F1, World Rally and Le Mans 24 Hours.

It runs the Subaru World Rally Team, the Ferrari 550 GTS programme in the Le Mans 24 Hours and American Le Mans Series and Ford Performance Racing in the Australian V8 Supercar series.
