Allen Timpany

Allen Timpany graduated from Bath University with
a first class honours degree and had already built a number of IT
companies, one of which included the largest IBM desktop support
business in the UK, when his life changed in 1988.
He responded to an advert in the Financial Times and purchased Vanco,
then a loss making Data Services Company, for £1. Allen saw Vanco as the
ideal vehicle to take advantage of the newly de-regulated telecoms
market and has been the CEO ever since.
It is through Allen’s vision and leadership that Vanco has established
itself as one of the leading global network service provider brands, a
success which resulted in the company becoming one of the Hot 500 Global
Growth IT companies. In November 2001 he took Vanco onto the main market
of the London Stock Exchange, the only company to list in the 4th
quarter, following the downturn in the telecoms industry and the
economic uncertainty after 9/11. The shares were twice oversubscribed.
Allen has overseen 17 consecutive years of strong profitable growth
since 1998 and by January 2005, Vanco plc had a turnover of £104million,
with customers in 142 countries globally. Vanco was voted ‘Best Service
Provider of the Year’ at the 2004 Networking Industry Awards.
